Museums in Mount Gambier

The Mount Gambier RSL War Museum is a must-visit for war memorabilia enthusiasts and those interested in Australian history. The museum features a collection of items donated by local families, displayed in five rooms. The RSL also offers a bar and restaurant, making it a convenient place to grab a meal or refreshments before or after exploring the museum. Entry to the museum is free, and it is open from 9:30 am to 8 pm daily.

The Old Courthouse in Mount Gambier is an impressive building constructed from pink dolomite stone. Designed by George Thomas Light, the assistant colonial architect, it served as the district court until new premises were constructed in 1974-5. The museum houses information and interpretive banners that tell the stories of some of the people who worked at the courthouse.
