It offers visitors a nature escape with preserved eucalypt forest and rainforest of the southern Conondale Range. The park spans over Bellthorpe, Booroobin, and Sandy Creek, boasting rugged landscapes. The picturesque rainforest within the park is an integral part of the catchment of Stony Creek, a tributary on the Stanley River. The park is surrounded by the Brisbane River valley and Mary River catchments, making it important for biodiversity conservation.

Bellthorpe National Park offers various activities, including mountain biking, horse riding, and bushwalking. Remnants of the area's timber cutting industry can still be found throughout the wilderness. Visitors can explore the rugged terrains with the choice of several scenic trails.
