Description

Located in the Mornington Peninsula, Point Leo Beach is a renowned destination amongst surfers and anglers.

This 500-meter long beach, facing almost due south, welcomes both beginners and experienced surfers for a thrilling surfing experience. It also provides an ideal spot for recreational activities, such as fishing and camping.

Point Leo Beach is known for providing excellent waves for surfing as it is one of the best surf beaches on the Mornington Peninsula. The calm waters of Western Port Bay, which the beach is nestled in, provide a safe environment for surfing beginners. It is essential to swim between the flags to avoid any danger.

The beach is also a prime spot for fishing, particularly for anglers hunting kingfish, snapper or squid. It is complemented by extensive inter-tidal rock platforms at each end, perfectly catering for those who opt, instead of casting their nets, to spend a chilled afternoon fishing, interposing fishing with some beach hopping or swimming.

The low, vegetated basalt bluffs on Point Leo Beach form the surrounds of the beach, giving it an incredible scenic view. While admiring the beauty of the place from the shore, visitors have the opportunity to see some offshore reefs rock spawning sea life too.

The best time to visit Point Leo Beach is during the summer months between December and February, which is the height of the surfing season. The climate is accommodating to accommodate different activities, especially water sports. It is ideal for outdoor activities over the weekend.

Point Leo Beach is located on Point Leo Road just off Shoreham Road in the coastal town of
