Description

Located just seven kilometres away from the bustling Ipswich Central Business District, Kholo Gardens at Pine Mountain, Muirlea is a picturesque retreat into nature.

The garden is a hidden gem, offering its visitors lush gardens, an expansive crystal-clear lily pond, bush walks, open spaces, and an unexpected delight to explore. The garden has Giant Kauri trees and Hoop Pines planted by early settlers, rare birds and plants, and the nearby Brisbane River, making it a special place for spending some time. Kholo Gardens also holds a special place in the heart of the indigenous Jagera, Yuggera, and Ugarapul People, as it is a sacred site for them.

Kholo Gardens Muirlea is a subtropical haven that offers its visitors the peace and quiet that they crave in nature. Visitors can enjoy the peace and serenity of the natural rainforest canopy by taking a 400-meter walk through Tree Fern Lane. For the more energetic visitors, the steeper 800 meter Coal Creek Walk is available, aptly named after the earliest recordings of coal in the area were made here in 1825.

Kholo Gardens Muirlea was formerly the site of a water pumping station. The garden has an historic well onsite, along with a charming old church that was relocated here in 1990 from Redbank. It also has a stunningly restored Queenslander nearby. Due to all these features, Kholo Gardens is popular for hosting weddings and other functions. The garden also has barbecues, picnic tables, and public toilets for visitors to use.
