Lysterfield Park

Lysterfield Park is a vast public park located in the Greater Melbourne region of Victoria, Australia. It covers an area of approximately 1,398 hectares (3,450 acres) and is adjacent to Lysterfield suburb in the City of Casey.

The park offers a haven for native birds, mammals, and reptiles, making it an ideal getaway for nature lovers.

The park was created after the decommissioning of the Lysterfield Reservoir, which was built in 1936. The National Parks Service took over management of the reservoir's catchment in 1979, and the park was officially established in 1981. It has since undergone several extensions, with its current size being reached in 1997.

Lysterfield Park is known for its unique features and was chosen as a venue for the Commonwealth Games mountain biking events in 2006. It offers a variety of XC and trail MTB riding trails, all clearly signposted with indications of difficulty levels. The park has made significant progress in trail management, improving drainage and trail conditions between 2012 and 2015. In 2008, emergency markers were installed to assist emergency services in locating callers.
