Description

Lores Bonney Riverwalk Qld is a 1.2-kilometre riverside promenade that starts from Cameron Rocks and ends at Bretts Wharf.

It is a shared, off-road pathway that has a dedicated 2-metre-wide lane for pedestrians along with a 2-way cycle path that spans 3 metres in width. The walk is named in honour of a much-accomplished but little-known aviatrix of the 1930s - Maude 'Lores' Bonney.

As you walk along the pathway, you will stumble upon green spaces perfect for a picnic, over-water rest platforms complete with water bubblers. There are plaques along the way that display the history of a number of iconic buildings in the area and explain what you are looking at across the river. The eastern end of Cameron Rocks is home to various grassy and multi-leveled areas, including the Cameron Rocks Reserve fishing platform. These are perfect for sitting and watching life on the river and to drop a line in. You will also find a stainless steel scaling bench with running water to clean up your catch before heading home. Cameron Rocks Reserve is also home to the beautifully restored Hamilton War Memorial, which was relocated from Cooksley Street, Albion, to this site in 2016 in commemoration, it carries the names of conflicts that members of the Clayfield-Toombul RSL sub-branched served in during World War I.

At the easternmost leg of the walk is Bretts Wharf ferry terminal and the popular dining and retail precinct of Portside. This is a great spot to recharge the batteries before heading back or to fuel up before you start.

The Lores Bonney Riverwalk is open year
