Description

Located in Geelong, Victoria, Geelong Botanic Gardens is among the oldest botanic gardens in Australia, established in 1851.

The garden was founded to explore plants and their utility in any industry, continuing this tradition today.

The garden offers attractions such as heritage trees classified by the National Trust, colorful shrubs, and perennials. It also provides picnic spots on rolling green lawns, making it an ideal place to spend a leisurely afternoon. The Teahouse is a must-visit for coffee lovers, serving delicious lunches and good coffee. The garden also features a 21st Century Garden, a complete contrast to the heritage garden, showcasing drought-resistant plants and inspiring modern designs.

The garden is open to the public daily from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, allowing visitors to explore its expansive beauty at their own pace.

The Friends of Geelong Botanic Gardens organize various activities for visitors of all ages. Free guided walks are available on Wednesdays at 11:00 am and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Themed walks occur monthly on Sundays, requiring only a small donation. The Friends' Nursery is open on Wednesdays from 9:20 am to 12:30 pm for plant purchases. Maps, garden highlights, and self-guided walks can be obtained from the gate attendants. Pre-booked walks are available for groups through the Friends of Geelong Botanic Gardens office. The garden is easily accessible by rail or car, with ample parking spaces available. From Geelong station, visitors can walk or take a bus (services 1 and 23)
