In Detail

Woody Nook celebrated its 29th anniversary in 2011.   It currently has just 16 acres of hand-picked vines nestled in the Margaret River region of Western Australia, a three hour drive south of Perth - the state capital - and five miles from the Indian Ocean.   20 more acres were planted in 2007.  The single vineyard’s soil is rich, gravelly loam and its mature vines are not irrigated, resulting in full fruit flavors and distinctive varietal characteristics   Winters are mild with moderate rainfall;  summers are long, warm and sunny, more ideal conditions for promoting quality grape production.

Woody Nook is a genuine boutique winery, currently producing arond 8,000 cases a year.   It is family-owned and run, unpretentious and small, but proud of the critical acclaim second generation winemaker and viticulturist Neil Gallagher consistently receives.   In the past decade his wines have won more than 200 awards, including 3 Trophies, 30+ Gold medals and 40+ Silver Medals.

Export markets include Bermuda, Canada, Hong Kong, U.S.A., China and the UK.

The Cellar Door is open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Good Friday from 10am to 4.30pm.   Its Giftshop has many items for sale that are unique to Woody Nook in Australia, mostly wine and grape related, attractive, small, inexpensive, lightweight and ideal for tourists!

The Nookery Café, which seats up to 120 people, is set against an impressive backdrop of jarrah and marri forest. It has a rustic, cosy charm, both inside the cottage style building and outside under the shady pergola or on the all weather alfresco patio by the fish pond. There is also a grassy play area with swings for children and meals especially for them.   Coffees and teas are available all day (10am-4pm) and tasty lunches are served from 11.30am to 3pm every day.  Menus and all details can be found on their website www.woodynook.com.au.   The Nookery Café is also a popular venue for weddings and other special events.
