In DetailOpening Times

In 1967 the Vasse Felix founder, Dr Tom Cullity, planted a dream, and this dream created history; pioneering modern viticulture and winemaking in Margaret River.

The Holmes à Court family acquired Vasse Felix in 1987 and have carefully developed the winery and vineyard into one of the great estates of Australia. Today, Vasse Felix wines can be found in over 25 countries around the world.

The Vasse Felix wines are crafted by Chief Winemaker, Virginia Willcock, who oversees all aspects of viticulture and wine production.

“My approach has always been that wines should be created with a boutique winemaking philosophy. I believe that, irrespective of volume, this approach delivers superior wine – wine you can be fanatical about.”
Recognising the natural beauty of the Margaret River wine region and the development of wine tourism in Australia, the Vasse Felix Estate offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy more than just a wine experience.

The underground cellar was originally built in the 1970s to store barriques of wine in conditions that took full advantage of the cooling effects of a natural subterranean environment. The cellar was extended and renovated in 2004 with local redgum panelling. The interior exudes an atmosphere of warmth and welcome and a visit reveals the colours, aromas and tastes of Margaret River’s oldest vineyard.

The timber and stone building which houses the Vasse Felix restaurant is natural, warm and welcoming in winter - earthy, cool and breezy in summer. Lunches are served every day in a smart, casual environment that overlooks a sweeping panorama of Margaret River’s oldest vines. Also available for private, catered evening functions, the restaurant offers a wide variety of delightful fare produced from the freshest ingredients, perfectly matched with Vasse Felix premium wines.

For the art lovers, the ‘old’ Vasse Felix Winery has been transformed into a public gallery and performing arts facility. This versatile art space retains the winery ambience with its exposed steel trusses and original catwalks reminding visitors of the early Vasse Felix vintages made there. The facility regularly hosts exhibitions from the celebrated Holmes à Court collection, live performances and special events.

Vasse Felix is one of the most highly visited wine destinations in the country and as is regarded internationally as one the great drawcards of the Margaret River Region.
