Knee Deep Wines was established in 2000 from farmlands by Dr Phillip and Sue Childs. Knee Deep is a family operated vineyard, cellar door and restaurant with national wholesale wine distribution. Knee Deep’s first commercial vintage was 2004 and since then numerous wine awards have been achieved from a stunning range of wines produced.
Set on 34 hectares, with an area of twenty two hectares under vine, the vineyard is in the renowned Wilyabrup area of the Margaret River wine region. Our focus is on the production of premium quality, estate grown wines.
A variety of wines are produced and all are available for tasting at out cellar door where friendly staff will greet you with a smile and help with any explanations of the wine that you may wish for. Consultant winemakers, Bob Cartwright and Cliff Royle, brings a wealth of experience to the Knee Deep wine range. Both winemakers have received national and international acclaim.
Food Philosophy
Our commitment to fine wine is supported by our focus on fine food. We utilise a combination of flavours, temperatures and textures in each dish, with most components (including our pastries and sweets) all made on site with meticulous attention to detail. We view food as an art form, producing dishes that deliver flavour, intensity, aroma and texture into an inspirational picture on the plate.
Our chef, Michelle Babb and her team have brought the restaurant many award nominations, among them Best Restaurant Regional WA and awarded 2 Chef Hats, Australian Good Food Guide 2011/2012; Awarded a Star, West Australian Good Food Guide 2011; Ranked 2nd WA Regional Restaurants, Gourmet Traveller 2011/2012. The ‘trust the chef’ menu option is the most popular of the menu every day of the week, with a choice of three, five or seven courses at very reasonable prices. Knee Deep also has a ‘parent-friendly’ kids menu with healthy options made fresh daily.
Tailor Made Events
“If you can imagine it, we can make it happen.” We offer private evening dining or events within our restaurant for large groups. We cater for all types of weddings – whether it be a formal, white wedding, a relaxed family barbeque or a bold statement with a helicopter entrance. Styles range from an evening of cocktails, ‘family style’ banquet, plated menus and all things in between.
