Bought by the family in 1982 and originally intended to be a country property retreat for relaxing, the land was going to contain a cheese factory when the owners decided to use the property for commercial purposes. But then principal of Vasse Felix Winery convinced them that the land was ideal grape-growing country, and today the property consist of twenty hectares of vines. It’s a testimony to the success and quality of the estate that BRL Hardy and Southcorp Wines both vied for 50 per cent purchase of the property.
