Join Artsource & experienced public artists, Alister Yiap & Rick Vermey, for this Introduction to Public Art Masterclass, tailored purposefully to the delivery of public art in Perth & throughout WA.
Are you an artist interested in participating, or already practising public art? This introduction to the public art commissioning process, is designed to help you transition from a studio-based practice to one that incorporates and skillfully navigates public art and its processes.
Over two days of workshops, you will be guided through the various stages of delivering public artworks including site visits and one-on-one instruction. Alister Yiap, Rick Vermey and Artsource Art Consultants, Katherine Wilkinson and Paul Parin, will focus on the preparation and delivery of professional concept and design, provide understanding of commission agreements, and discuss in-depth examples of the fabrication and installation stages.
Participants will receive a broad introduction to public art relative to West Australian public art and local government policies. Participants will be guided by Artsource art consultants and public artist Alister Yiap through developing, preparing and delivering Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and concept documents.
Day 2 of the Public Art Masterclass will take participants through the intricacies and key considerations of design documentation, fabrication and installation. The closing afternoon will feature opportunities for one-on-one feedback and small group workshops with experienced public artist, Rick Vermey.
