West Cape Howe produces world-class premium wines and is regularly applauded with outstanding reviews and awards. James Halliday has awarded his 5 red star rating to West Cape Howe Wines in 2012.
Only a stone’s throw from the township of Mount Barker on Muir Highway, sits the beautiful and historic ‘Langton’ property where the West Cape Howe Winery and Cellar Door is located.
From humble beginnings in the nearby township of Denmark, West Cape Howe Wines was first established in 1997 as the first contract winemaking facility in Western Australia, with the West Cape Howe wine range launched in early 2000.
The Winemaking Team
Highly regarded international winemaker Gavin Berry (joining West Cape Howe in 2004 following a successful career at Plantagenet Wines as CEO & Chief Winemaker), heads a strong team and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in producing world class wines. Twenty four vintages in the Great Southern have given him a deep and intuitive knowledge of the region, and an ability to garner optimal expressions of variety, site and vintage. Andrew Siddell joined the company in 2008 as Senior Winemaker after working in prominent wine regions both nationally and internationally, bringing his passion and experience in producing premium quality wine.
Careful blends of best quality fruit parcels sourced from premium sub-regions of Mount Barker and Frankland are used in our Cape to Cape and Regional Ranges of wines. The wines consistently deliver fresh flavours and intense aromas – a true interpretation of this illustrious cool-climate region.
West Cape Howe’s driving philosophy is to make delicious wines of harmony, balance, structure and flavour – wines that people love to drink!
