The first vineyards were planted on the property in 1978, and today, Voyager Estate is a second generation, family-owned estate.
Voyager Estate is blessed with the raw materials required to make great wine. From this strong foundation, the vineyard and winemaking team, led by Steve James, apply their craft and uncompromising passion to create elegant wines that do justice to their place in Margret River.
Our place is uniquely suited to growing Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our red-brown gravel soils with stony clay sub-soils nourish our vines with a slow release of moisture and nutrients, this also allows us to produce some other quintessential Margaret River wines.
Our patch of land, the soil, and region is at the heart of what we do.
So it’s second nature for us to put our environment front and centre. Our objective is to achieve environmental balance, including a natural farming approach to vineyard management, with minimal input methods and the use of natural products that encourages biodiversity.
As people and as winemakers, not only are we committed to our place, we’re defined by it.
That’s why we believe in working in harmony with nature to craft our wines, so each of them can be a pure and clear expression of our place and its unique qualities and quirks. So in every one of our wines you can taste the fruit vibrancy and character of our warm summers, balanced by the precision and clarity of our cooling maritime breezes and clean ocean air.
