French-born Australian photographer based in Margaret River, Martine worked for the UN as full-time peacekeeping mission photographer in conflict zones over ten years in South Sudan, Timor-Leste, DR Congo, Burundi and recently in West Africa during the Ebola crisis.
Since moving to WA in 2014, Martine has launched a photographic exhibition and book titled “Margaret River Region FROM ABOVE”, featuring aerial views of the South West, which is being featured in the Margaret River Gallery. A more recent project, titled “Ngala Wongga” (‘come talk’) examines the cultural significance of languages in the Goldfields, the interconnectedness of people with the land and the culture and identity expressed with languages that today are considered endangered. Her latest book, Beyond, goes further afield to explore the Goldfields-Esperance, Gascoyne, Mid West and Kimberley regions from the air.
