In Detail

Millbrook Winery is situated in the picturesque wine region of the Perth Hills, a 50 minute drive south-east of the capital city Perth in Western Australia . The owners, Peter and Lee Fogarty, planted the first vines on the property in 1996 and in 2001 a stunning, architecturally designed winery, including a tasting room and restaurant , was completed. Millbrook, together with the iconic Lake’s Folly vineyard in the Hunter Valley and Deep Woods Estate in Margaret River , forms part of the Fogarty Wine Group.

The attraction to the Perth Hills was the uncanny similarities to the Northern Rhône region in . The southern Perth Hills region has an elevation of 190–270 metres above sea level and geologically the soils are very gravelly, providing superb drainage and anchorage for vines. It is no surprise that Shiraz and Viognier were chosen as the two flagship varieties and have become recognised as outstanding examples of both styles.

The fruit grown on the Estate is high quality with low yields a core objective. It is supplemented by fruit sourced from the Perth Hills, Geographe, Margaret River and Great Southern wine regions of Western Australia .

Millbrook received a 5 star rating from James Halliday in his 2010 Australian Wine Companion.

The winery produces wines under two labels – Barking Owl and Millbrook. The Barking Owl range is produced from parcels of high quality fruit from low-yielding vines sourced from chosen growers in the Perth Hills, Geographe, Margaret River and Great Southern regions. The wines, which are designed to be enjoyed in the short to medium term, are fresh, lively and fruit driven. Varieties include Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz Viognier, and Cabernet Merlot.

The Millbrook label comprises ultra-premium wines which are produced from the best quality fruit sourced from the Perth Hills, Geographe and Margaret River regions. Very limited quantities are made each year to ensure that the wines produced under the Millbrook label are flavour intense, well structured, have excellent length of flavour and will gain complexity with age. Varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Shiraz Viognier, Shiraz and Cabernet Malbec. The wines are labelled under the Regional, Estate and Limited Release ranges.

The tasting room is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm and the award-winning restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday – bookings are essential. Millbrook also caters for private functions and weddings.
