In Detail

Jim Talijancich arrived in WA, from Croatia, in 1926. After cutting jarrah sleepers in the south-west and running a wood yard in the heart of Perth, Jim moved to the Swan Valley and began bulk wine production in 1932. His death in 1945 left his 13 year old son Peter to help his mother with the winemaking. Peter spent time working under Jack Mann honing his craft. Peter’s son James joined him in the vineyard 1977, only to develop a love of fortified wines.  When Peter retired in 2000, he had completed over 50 vintages- mostly consisting of estate grown Verdelho, Shiraz and Grenache.

Today James and Hilda Talijancich are the proud owners of his grandfather’s property, and continue to produce beautiful Verdelho and old vine Shiraz with long cellaring potential.  James’s dedication to fortified wine has brought him great recognition internationally with the 1980 Liqueur Shiraz and the 30 year old Rare Tawny.
