About seven km north of Midland. One of the Swan Valley's newest wineries, named after an Australian bird found locally. Cellar door and cafT in a picturesque rural setting.
Inspired by a trip to France, doctor Simon Berns and wife Maake invested in a run-down, four-hectare vineyard in 1994. The fertile property lies between wetlands and the Swan River, with Aboriginal artefacts being found when the 2.5 hectares of vines were planted. A Margaret River vineyard also provides fruit to Sittella, which produces Verdelho, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Semillon and Cabernet. The cellar door and cafe was opened in 1998, and features impressive architecture and immaculately landscaped surrounds.
