John and Katie Sprigg, carry on a proud wine making tradition begun in South Australia by John’s great grandfather in the 1850’s at Happy Valley south of Adelaide. Henry was an Inspector of Vines in those early years after proclamation. The home vineyards at Happy Valley were over 50 acres in those early years.
Trevelen Farm was established in 1993 and has produced outstanding wines since the first commercial vintage in 1997.

Five Star rating in James Halliday’s 2012 Wine Companion is testament to the consistent production of premium wine.
Begun in 1993, they established five hectares of Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot at Trevelen Farm. The quality of the wines is as consistent as the prices are modest.
Visitors to the cellar door have the added attraction of garden walks, Katie’s garden, situated adjacent to the cellar hosts many visits from gardening enthusiasts as she is a member of The Heritage Rose Society. Entry is free to wine purchasers but $5.00 per head for specific garden visitors or groups. Booking ahead is necessary for groups and buses.
Now a Truly Great Southern Winery, fruit is drawn from the northern area of the Great Southern Region nearby at Frankland, to supplement the premium produce from the home Trevelen Farm vineyard.
