In Detail

Take a road less travelled and discover a hidden gem! Whicher Ridge is a genuine artisan wine producer growing and hand craftng small quantities of single variety, single vineyard, single region wines. Neil and Cathy Howard have been growing grapes and making wine for a collective 45 years.

The couple believe that a particular grape variety should be grown in a location that best suits that variety. Add to this philosophy, a very generous amount of passion for their vineyard and a dedication to handcrafting high quality wines using traditional winemaking practices, and you have Whicher Ridge Wines.

Their farm is managed in a biologically sustainable way using minimal chemical inputs. The Wine Sensory Garden is grown following organic gardening principles, and garden produce as well as herbs, flowers  and heirloom vegetable seedlings are available for sale at Cellar Door.

A Wine tasting experience at Whicher Ridge is truly unique with its combination of a farm style Cellar Door and unique ‘one of a kind’ Wine Sensory Garden. A tasting with Cathy will take you on a journey of discovery of the Western Australian wine regions of Geographe, Great Southern and Margaret River.

The Whicher Ridge Cellar Door and Wine Sensory Garden are open 5 days a week from Thursday to Monday, 10am to 5pm. When you visit, you will be greeted by the winery’s very friendly wine dog Polly.

Whicher Ridge Wines hosts a number of annual events including a Bush Poets Long Table Lunch in May, the South West Petanque Championships in mid November, and a progressive dinner, the Sensory Indulgence Fringe Event as part of the Margaret River Gourmet Escape also in mid November.
