In Detail

Aurora Expeditions is an Australian-owned adventure company specialising in
small-group voyages to wild and remote destinations. A world leader in
expedition cruising, we offer passengers the chance to have an intimate
experience of the destination, with the support of expert staff and
flexible, innovative itineraries.

Our Kimberley expeditions showcase the best of Western Australia's Kimberley
coast. Inaccessible by road, the finest parts of this spectacular coastline
are best explored by sea. Wrapped in burnished red rock walls and a stunning
turquoise ocean, its overwhelming ancient landscape, abundant wildlife, and
impressive Aboriginal cultural sites will leave an impression on you that
will last forever.

Led by legendary Kimberley expeditioner Mike Cusack of Australian
Geographic¹s first 'wilderness couple' fame, the voyages will explore the
hidden bays, estuaries and spectacular sandstone gorges of this pristine
wilderness. Mike offers a special insight into one of Australia's least
visited areas, where his intimate knowledge reveals the secrets of this
ancient and forgotten land.

NEW FOR 2013/14

Our Kimberley voyages offer two exciting new activities. Organised by Wandjina Tours, part of a cultural tourism initiative and run by renowned artist and respected Worrara
elder Donny Woolagoodja, you will be greeted on the beach by the traditional owners of this area. They will welcome you to country with a traditional smoking ceremony and share with you the cultural history of Wijingarra bard bard.

Visit the Artists in Residence shelter for a cup of tea and damper, and watch beautiful art created. Learn about Wandjina culture and the importance of art in everyday lives amid an informal, friendly atmosphere. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase world class Aboriginal art, on country, direct from the artist.

Another option, for a maximum of six keen anglers, is half a day enjoying fantastic barramundi fishing. Our new fishing option explores the most promising inlets under the guidance of Peter Tucker, one of the Kimberley’s best anglers. Please
contact Aurora Expeditions for more details.

During the cruise we will also rendezvous with a helicopter for an optional flight to Mitchell Falls. The cost is approximately $450 per person and flights can be booked on board.
