In Detail

Premium wines are produced on site from grapes grown in the Blackwood Valley Wine Region and hand picked to maintain the quality of fruit necessary for fine wines.  The wines are crafted using traditional winemaking techniques in a cool processing environment.  The wines were originally made in the pump shed until 2014 when a new facility was constructed to include a cellar door.

The table wines are sold under the Pump Shed label with Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon available.  Bridgetown Bubbles, a sparkling Shiraz, is very popular, exhibiting varietal flavours in a semi-sweet style.

The fortified wines are sold under the Blackwood River label.  These are port-style wines.  Two styles are available from Shiraz grapes; tawny (barrel aged) and ruby (early drinking).  Semillon grapes, with a small amount of Sauvignon Blanc, are used for the white fortified wine.

The vineyard was planted in 2003 with 1,208 Shiraz rootlings grafted to Swartzmann Rootstock.  In 2015 120 vines were cut back and grafted with Muscat a petits grains (Brown Muscat).

Bridgetown Winery is in the Blackwood Valley Wine Region.  It is located approximately 9.5 kilometres from the Bridgetown townsite along the Brockman Highway, with one frontage to the Blackwood River.

The cellar door is open by appointment most days from 10am to 5pm.
