On Haddrill Road, about 11km up Great Northern Highway from Midland. Swan Valley's 1999 Chenin took out best of variety at that year's SGIO WA Winemakers Exhibition.
Swan Valley Wines was established by Peter Hoffman, who moved to WA with wife Paula from Kenya in November 1961. He bought the six-hectare property, as a superannuation investment, in 1989, while working for the state's Agriculture Board where he was employed for 28 years. The first release of wines came in 1999, with the award-winning Chenin, a Grenache and Shiraz. A number of fortified ports, sherries and a muscat were also produced, former Houghton winemaker and university lecturer John Griffiths guiding winery as consultant.
