Bluewater Grill is without a doubt one of Perth’s most epic riverside venues. Set in the Heathcote Reserve on the pristine Applecross foreshore, Bluewater Grill is a heritage-listed building within beautifully manicured grounds. It boasts a tranquil ambience and a truly unique vantage point of Perth city, the South Perth Yacht Club & the Swan River.

Point Heathcote was one of the landing and camp sites of Captain James Stirling during his exploration of the Swan River in 1827. It was named after one of Stirling's crew members, Midshipman G. C. Heathcote, said to have been the first European to set foot on the site.
Bluewater is open for lunch and dinner every day, with a sensational buffet breakfast spread on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays. Bluewater’s Function Centre, Private Wine Room and Private Dining Room are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.

The Bluewater Kiosk supplies simple cafe-style food that can be eaten in the alfresco area, or taken away into the grounds of Heathcote Reserve. There is also a children’s playground where kids can play and parents can keep a watchful eye whilst enjoying a coffee at the kiosk.

Head chef Brad Leahy has concentrated on fresh, local food that doesn’t compete with the view, and simple yet elegant food which lets the produce ‘speak for itself’. The menu offers a fine selection of WA produce that is driven in daily to ensure freshness and quality. Only the best ingredients are used in every one of Brad’s dishes.

The menu can be described as Modern Australian but – due to Brad’s background and passion – it has a very strong Middle Eastern skew. To get you started, Brad offers Mezze Share Plates (great with a glass of Sav Blanc as you overlook the river and city), oysters and a selection of different breads.

Brad enjoys using fresh WA produce and adding Eastern flavours to it, with dishes like: Almond Crumbed Scallops with Dried Pastirma (specially seasoned/cured beef) and Red Onion; Roast Lamb Rack, Eggplant Moussaka, Watercress Salad & Labneh (specially-drained, thick yoghurt); Crispy Soft Shell Crab, Chorizo, Red Capsicum Pepperonade, Harissa Vinaigrette; and Honey Fried Eggplant with Merguez (Turkish sausage) and Basil Tzatziki.

In addition to these Middle Eastern-style dishes, there are some fabulous Modern Australian, or ‘Mod-Oz’ ones, including various oysters, a fresh seafood tasting plate; Beer Battered Bronze Whaler Shark, Chips and Tartare Sauce; Pan fried Barramundi Fillet, Mushroom Saut‚ Red Wine Butter; Duck Leg Confit with Savoy Cabbage and Braised Lentils; and Perth’s best cuts of scotch fillet, sirloin and eye fillet – with your choice of sauce.

There are a variety of fresh salads and sides, and the dessert menu includes winners, such as Maple Brulee with Butterscotch Ice Cream; Rhubarb and Quince Crumble with Honey and Ginger Ice Cream and Pouring Cream; and Brown Sugar Meringue with Banana, Coconut Cream, Lime and Vanilla Syrup. Delicioso!

The Bluewater bar offers a great selection of Australian wines, with a few New Zealand wines also. The bar is stocked with a variety of aperitifs and digestives, as well as the world’s best spirits, cognacs, whiskeys, ports, Armagnac’s, and ‘stickies’. Ask our bar staff for their recommendation to match your meal.

In addition to the restaurant, there are various areas for events and functions. The two smaller rooms –the Private Wine Room and the Private Dining Room – are perfect for smaller affairs. The larger Bluewater Function Room can accommodate 100 guests, and with its city views through timber-framed windows and open areas that spill out onto the grass, it has become one of the most sought after riverside venues in Perth.

Bluewater is the perfect venues for all those special days throughout the year, so come along and celebrate in true style, events such as the Australia Day Skyworks, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and so on.

Currently Point Heathcote features community facilities such as the Melville City Toy Library and Melville City Playgroup Association. The site is also home to a Children's Adventure Playground, a kiosk, cafe, a learning centre for Challenger TAFE courses and of course, Bluewater Grill.
