Landscapes by Tim Davies Landscaping

The owners of this beautiful 1900s abode approached Tim Davies Landscaping (TDL), seeking a landscape design that would complement their existing garden and the Federation style of their home.

Landscape designer Monica Palmer worked closely with the clients to create a pool courtyard garden for the 2000sqm block.

The brief outlined a particular request for the design to take inspiration from the vista created by the axis of the existing arbor. The pool was to serve as a focal point from the home and alfresco area, while unifying these zones with the marquee lawn and surrounding garden.

It was imperative the new pool and garden were completed and functional by Christmas to coincide with internal renovations to accommodate visiting family. This feat would not have been possible without the harmonious and open working relationship between Tim Davies Landscaping, AT Brine and Sons, and Future Pools.

To achieve the particular form the clients were seeking, poured limestone was used around the pool area, a material that will age naturally over time to blend seamlessly with the existing axed and grouted limestone. This technique was employed to give the appearance of large rustic flagstones, its European feel making it beautifully suited to a classic-style garden.

To complement such a timeless garden design, TDL worked very closely with the clients on detailed finishes, paying particular attention to the use of materials and how they worked with other elements of the garden. Many items, such as the handmade wrought iron shutter screens and the travertine, were custom-sized or custom-designed to entirely complement the area.

The concrete pool has a fully automated rigid cover that has been carefully engineered and disguised under the travertine tiling between the end of the pool and water feature.

The classic white timber arbor, copper fish water spouts and distinctive Robert Plumb copper outdoor shower are finishing touches that draw the eye and inject an element of whimsy to the area.

The conclusion is an understated pool framed by a mix of outdoor zones that are practical yet classical, seamlessly integrating with the Federation-style home.
