Do you love food? Do you love the city? Well, now’s your chance to combine both of these with the Eat The Street Walking Tours. Owned and operated by local couple Jacqueline Baril and Mark Padgett, the company offers multiple tours catering to all different interests, from Bars on Beaufort to Subiaco Arts and Eats.
Eat The Street Walking Tours began less than a year ago, as a way to help both tourists and locals discover the best local food and drink venues of Perth. The tours cater to all requirements, including vegans, vegetarians and those with any allergies like gluten or dairy. You can book a set tour, or customise your own with a group of your choice!
Walking tours are a great way to increase both local knowledge and appreciation, and work in some exercise too! Their popularity has steadily increased over the past several years, with around a dozen operators, offering experiences for everything from food and photography to heritage and sightseeing!
Walking is almost impossible to regulate by the government (https://eatthestreet.com.au/index.php/2016/05/20/walking-tour-boom-drives-foot-traffic-in-perth/), plus it reduces traffic and congestion on the roads and promotes an active lifestyle, so Eat The Street really is the perfect new business to help you and your colleagues experience something new.
The tours have been so successful in their short life that Eat The Street won the UK’s Luxury Travel Guide Unique Experience of the Year.
Co-founder Jacqueline Baril said the business came from pure passion.
"Mark and I started the business out of a place of passion for Perth's food and drink industry. We love Perth! It is so humbling to see how far our business has come in under a year. In the beginning I was out there chasing venues to be involved, but now it's the venues contacting us,” she said.
Mark Padgett, the other co-founder of Eat The Street, said they are aiming for a new business filling old gaps in the market.
"We really wanted to fill a gap in the market offering an all-inclusive service. Our tours have food and drink at every stop all included in the ticket price. Our guests always leave full, and after our evening tours often a little tipsy as well,” he said.
