New Initiative

In a new Eventscorp initiative, five unique Western Australian events will be considerably elevated and feature in an international television program broadcast to millions of prospective visitors around the world.

The television production and distribution deal, brokered by Eventscorp, will see the Anaconda Adventure Race, the Avon Descent, ‘The Doctor’ Ocean Classic Surf Ski World Cup, the Rottnest Channel Swim and the Lancelin Ocean Windsurfing Classic each feature in a 30-minute episode.

With the Government’s support, these events will receive a boost to their profile as will the State as a dynamic tourism destination.

New Announcements

Hot off the press! Twenty20 Cricket!
The State Government and the WACA are proud to announce that they have been successful in securing a limited overs international cricket fixture for Perth each year for the next three years. In season 2010-11 this fixture will be a KFC Twenty20 International between Australia and Sri Lanka at the WACA Ground. The partnership also sees Perth secure the third Test in the upcoming 3 mobile Ashes Test Series, to be played at the WACA Ground on 16-20 December 2010.

In the last 12 months alone Eventscorp has confirmed support for the following events:

• The Revelation Perth International Film Festival
• FotoFreo Festival of Photography
• 2010 Drug Aware Pro Margaret River
• International Cricket fixtures from 2009 – 2011, including the announcement today of a Twenty20 international, one of only three to be held in Australia in 2010.
• CowParade 2009 Margaret River
• Ironman Western Australia 2010-14 • Five Western Australian events:
1. Lancelin Ocean Classic,

5. Anaconda Adventure Race.
• Australasian Safari 2010-12 (+ 3-year option)

Arts and Cultural Events Scheme and Regional Events Scheme

There are two other funding schemes that the State Government has in place to support smaller events, namely the Arts and Cultural Events Scheme and the Regional Events Scheme.

So far this year, Eventscorp’s Arts and Cultural Events Scheme is supporting four events,
• the hugely successful Sculpture by Sea Cottesloe, 4 to 23 March
• Fremantle Street Arts Festival – the biggest festival of its kind in Australia, 3 to 5 April
• the internationally acclaimed FotoFreo photography exhibition, 20 March to 18 April, and
• Australia’s most unique film event the Revelation Perth International Film Festival from 8 to 17 July.

The annual Regional Events Scheme is supporting 17 events on the calendar, with more to be confirmed mid-year.

New to the Eventscorp calendar this year is the game fishing tournament GAMEX, held in Exmouth, and the Karri Cup mountain bike challenge held in the South West – both funded through the Regional Events Scheme.

Also funded through the Regional Events Scheme is the popular CowParade exhibition in Australia’s South West - the first time this has been held outside of a metropolitan area anywhere in the world.

Australasian Safari

The contract for Australasian Safari has been extended for three-years, with a further three-year option, safeguarding the Southern Hemisphere’s Dakar style motorsport event in WA until 2015.
