The Myth Of Julian Rose
Mondo Di Corpo and The Blue Room Theatre present the world premiere of new Western Australian
work The Myth Of Julian Rose by Daniel Kershaw at The Blue Room Theatre from 8 – 26 June
2010 as part of The Blue Room Theatre’s 21st birthday season Old Enough to know better...
The protagonist, Julian, is a man with a disturbing past which surfaces with a vengeance when a
Minotaur begins to stalk his family.
The Myth Of Julian Rose gives voice to the unspeakable, boldly portraying the effects of maternal
child abuse and suppressed trauma, resulting in a story that is emotive, tragic and chilling.
Visionary Marisa Garreffa returns to The Blue Room Theatre to direct Kershaw’s debut work following
the success of multiple award-winning Motortown in 2008 (Winner, Best Production – 2008 Blue Room
Theatre Awards, Nominee, Best Director – 2009 Perth Theatre Trust/Equity Guild Awards).
“The play addresses the fallout of suppressed memory and challenges the notion of confession as a
means of healing. If memories are not confronted, they will find a voice elsewhere, in this case, a tenfoot
tall Minotaur!” – Marisa Garreffa
Featuring James Helm, Glenn Hall, Jo Morris and Sarah Nelson, expect a (un)healthy dose of magic
realism and contemporary performance infused with circus art in this powerful collision of genre. The
visual world of Julian Rose is brought to life by Ami McDonald, Rosie Martin, Bobby Jo Divitini,
Colleen Sutherland and Karen Cook with live music and sounds by Tristen Parr.
