Perth Arts on Toast - MS Society WA serves up celebrity breakfasts
The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Western Australia, in association with the Parmelia Hilton, will
present an inaugural series of monthly Celebrity Performing Arts Breakfasts – Perth Arts on Toast -
beginning on March 19 with a guest speaker line-up of some of the leading lights of the Australian
arts scene including TV Star, Penny Cook; Artistic Director of Opera Australia, Lyndon Terracini;
actor, and recipient of the inaugural Equity Lifetime achievement award, Peter Carroll (appearing
in John Bell’s King Lear); and Margaret Pomeranz, co host of At the Movies on ABC television.
Each celebrity guest speaker will be introduced by John Senczuk, MSWA Executive Producer,
Events - and one of Perth’s leading theatrical lights with his own national credits as producer,
director, designer and playwright. Mr Senczuk said that Perth Arts on Toast was designed to be
both entertaining and informative and to provide an alternate perspective on the performing arts in
the city.
“Perth Arts on Toast is a unique opportunity to engage with national leaders and practitioners in the
performing arts industry,” said MS Society CEO Marcus Stafford. “Australian artists are renowned
the world over for their flair and forthrightness, and I know that with the extraordinary range of
guests scheduled over the next few months that we are in for a delicious and at times zesty
breakfast series!”
With a focus on theatre for children and youth, the first guest on Friday, March 19 is Penny Cook,
famous for her role as ‘Vicki the Vet’ in the much loved TV series A Country Practice, and currently
starring in the musical, Oklahoma! at His Majesty’s Theatre. An actor of great accomplishment,
Miss Cook has graced our screens and stage since graduating from the National Institute of
Dramatic Art in 1978. She is also co-creator of the enduring Griffin Theatre Company (specialising
in Australian works) and sits on the board of one of the most exciting and successful youth oriented
theatre companies in the country, Monkey Baa.
