ART AND SPORT MERGE RAISING MONEY FOR KIDS WITH CYSITC FIBROSIS
On September 15th 2010 a group of emerging artists will present the opening night of their annual fundraising exhibition at the Kidogo Gallery - Bathers Beach Fremantle. The exhibition will contain works by 26 WA artists and will celebrate the joy of painting, featuring a diverse range of original and affordable landscapes, seascapes, still life and abstract paintings.
The artist’s 2009 exhibition saw the raising of funds for the Alola Foundation for Women and Children of Timor-Leste. This year the group is proud to be exhibiting in support of a charity bike ride organised by the Today for Tomorrow Foundation, which supports research and prevention of Cystic Fibrosis in children.
Today for Tomorrow was founded 2 years ago by Jason Morris whose son was born with Cystic Fibrosis and his friend Scott Nestorovic. Together with a team of riders they will be setting off on a month long charity bike ride from Perth to Sydney on the 18th September 2010 to raise funds. This is a massive 4153km journey from Fremantle to Cambelltown in New South Wales.'
By supporting the Today for Tomorrow charity bike ride the Paint Laugh Live Artists are excited to be donating 20% of the profits to the Foundation knowing that their contribution will have a direct impact in the treatment and prevention of Cystic Fibrosis in young children.
There is no cure for Cystic Fibrosis and one in 25 people carry the gene. A child is born with Cystic Fibrosis every four days and despite advances in modern medicine these children have a limited life expectancy.
In response to the fundraising exhibition - Scott Nestorovic, the Director of the Today for Tomorrow Foundation says "we are very excited about the bringing together of art and sport to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis. The Paint Laugh Live exhibition is a great show of community support for our up-coming bike ride.”
Fremantle Deputy Mayor Doug Thompson, will open the exhibition on Wednesday 15th September 2010. The opening night will run from 6-9pm at the Kidogo Arthouse Gallery, Bathers Beach Mews Road Fremantle and continues until Sunday 18th Sept 2010.
