Lambing Flat Folk Museum is called Lanping Folk Museum in Chinese.
The English name originally meant flat land where lambs were produced. The first Europeans who arrived in this area in 1826 built a lamb where ewes and lambs were produced. At the end of June 1860, people discovered gold mines here, so everyone called it "Lambing Flat".. .
