Description

Shoal Point is a visually spectacular coastal beach located in the northern-most community of the Northern Beaches group.

It offers an extensive stretch of sand and a close-up view of Green Reef Island. At low tide, visitors can witness thousands of tiny blue Soldier Crabs scuttling along the mudflats before burying themselves into the sand. The sublime sunset can be enjoyed by finding a spot on the beach and digging toes into the sand. Boats can be easily launched off the beach for exploring nearby estuaries and engaging in crabbing and fishing. Esplanade Park is a perfect recreational spot with shady areas, picnic tables, a playground, and barbecues. It offers picturesque views of the beach, making it an ideal spot for a family picnic, a get-together with friends, or a quiet getaway. The best time to visit Shoal Point is during the summer season, between December to February, when the weather is warm and sunny. Shoal Point is located approximately 20 minutes drive from Mackay, which is well connected to major Australian cities. Visitors can reach Shoal Point by renting a car, taking a taxi from Mackay, or opting for the scenic 3km walk from Bucasia.
