Macquarie Pass National Park

Welcome to Macquarie Pass National Park, located in New South Wales, Australia, 90 km southwest of Sydney.

The park, established in 1970, is known for its eucalypt forests and rainforest, including a stand of subtropical rainforest. Macquarie Pass, opened in 1898, has been a major route into and out of the Illawarra coastal plain. Visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty and take leisurely walks through the lush greenery.

The area surrounding Macquarie Pass National Park was heavily logged for cedar in the first half of the 19th century.

The park provides picnic facilities at two sites at the bottom of Macquarie Pass, as well as barbecues at two other picnic areas. Visitors can enjoy a meal or snack while taking in the park's stunning views.

Macquarie Pass National Park is home to a diverse range of birdlife, as well as swamp wallabies and wombats. The park's flora includes eucalypt forests and rainforest, with one of Australia's most southerly stands of subtropical rainforest.

Macquarie Pass is located approximately 11 km west of Albion Park and is considered a suburb of the City of Shellharbour. As of the 2021 census, the locality had no population.
