Description

Doug Sky Lookout Kaputar is located halfway up Mount Kaputar and provides the best seat in the house for sightseeing.

Named after the man who oversaw its construction, the lookout offers breathtaking panoramic views of the ever-changing landscapes of north-western New South Wales. From the subalpine surrounds of the viewing platform, visitors can enjoy scenic views of Euglah Rock and the foothills of the Nandewar Range. On a clear day, the lookout offers an unobstructed view beyond the enormous expanse of Pilliga Scrub to the majestic Warrumbungles on the horizon.

The lookout is a popular spot for landscape photography, thanks to its unique vantage point and natural beauty. It is recommended to visit from March to November when the weather is cooler and the skies are clearer. The early morning and late afternoon also offer enchanting light for capturing the best photos.

To reach Doug Sky Lookout, visitors can access it via the Mount Kaputar National Park's access road. The drive takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes from Narrabri or three hours from Tamworth. It is important to drive carefully as the road is steep and winding.

Doug Sky Lookout Kaputar is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting north-western New South Wales. It not only offers breathtaking panoramic views but also provides an opportunity to stop and stretch your legs during your drive up the mountain. Come visit and experience Big Sky Country like never before!
