Description

The Botanical Gardens Camperdown is a beautiful park located just over 3 kilometers from Camperdown's CBD.

It occupies a site of more than 25 hectares and offers extraordinary views over the twin volcanic lakes of Bullen Merri and Gnotuk. The gardens are enclosed within a 1.2-hectare fenced area at the heart of the Arboretum.

The Camperdown Botanical Gardens and Arboretum has a rich history dating back to the 1830s. It is closely entwined with the early settlement period of Camperdown and has a long association with the Djargurd Wurrung, the indigenous people who occupied the land for thousands of years. The gardens have rich volcanic soil that nourished the timbered hilltop and a garden of exotic trees and floral beds. The Gardens and the park reserve were reserved as a public park in 1869, and have been enjoyed by the public for over 140 years.

The Botanical Gardens Camperdown offers a variety of things to see and do. Visitors can explore the unique geological formation and enjoy the garden's outstanding scenic beauty. The gardens boast a vast array of exotic trees and floral beds, making it an ideal place for a tranquil nature walk. Bird watching opportunities are also available, and there are walking tracks for those who want to take a stroll along the picturesque landscape. The site provides picnic tables, barbeque facilities, playgrounds, and toilets for visitors to use.

The Gardens can also be booked for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and family events. It is even possible to book the gardens for musical entertainment and live theatre. Visitors can make reservations for their special occasions using the online booking form.
